Original first edition 1988 Walter Waylle clock. The legendary minimalist design by celebrated French designer Philippe Starck is back in the showrooms. And literally! Re-introduced to the Alessi range in 2010, the Walter Wayle II clock was designed over 40 years ago, and over that time has become one of the icons of contemporary design.
The clock-sculpture, for this is probably the best way to describe its character, consists of two hands, an hour hand and a minute hand, which, with their organic shape and soft lines, resemble the wings of a powerful, strong bird. Moving around their axis as time passes, they cast an intriguing shadow on the wall, which emphasises the dramatic expression of this design. The absence of a classic dial represents a contrast to the precise notion of time, while at the same time inviting reflection.
Given that this clock is part of the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, we are guaranteed a unique and top quality product. The Walter Wayle II is available in a dark grey colour and has a smooth, matt surface, so it will match walls of various colours and textures. The clock is equipped with a quartz movement powered by an AA type battery. Poetic, sensual and... timeless.
